Commissioner for Transport, Peter Hendy announced the appointment of Howard Carter as General Counsel for Transport for London today.

Peter Hendy said: "I am delighted to announce the appointment of Howard Carter as General Counsel.

"Howard will be responsible for advising the TfL Board, myself and Chief Officers on all legal and contractual aspects of the business."

Howard has 15 years experience in managing legal, secretariat, procurement and governance functions.

He has worked in local government, for a national public body and in regional government.

He has been Head of Legal and Procurement and Monitoring Officer at the GLA for the last five years.

In this role he has coordinated legal issues across the GLA Group and between the bodies involved in delivering the 2012 Olympic Games.

He also established and was a trustee of the London Bombings Relief Charitable Trust.

Howard will take up this position in September
