Make an enquiry

Ask a question about the Direct Vision Standard and Safety Permit for HGVs. Provide as much detail as you can to help us to respond to your enquiry. 

Grace period application

To apply for the DVS grace period, you need to sign in to (or create) a Road User Charging account. If you already have an account, use the sign in box on our Contact HGV Safety Permit page. After you've signed in, choose 'grace period application' from the dropdown menu.

You'll need to provide:

  • Your Vehicle Registration Mark (number plate) in the Additional information section, and;
  • Proof that you have arranged to have the Progressive Safe System fitted to your vehicle between 28 October 2024 and 4 May 2025

Your vehicle must have an active zero, one or two star Safety Permit to be eligible for the grace period.
