Leyton station step-free access

Leyton is getting an upgraded Central line station. This will include step-free access, a new staircase and a spacious new ticket hall. Work will start in 2025.

What we're doing

We're transforming Leyton station to make it more accessible and encourage sustainable travel in one of London's fastest growing neighbourhoods.

The upgrade will include:

  • A new, larger, high-quality ticket hall building including additional ticket gates to reduce congestion and meet expected future demand
  • 2 new lifts and an overbridge to make the station step-free from street to platform for the first time
  • An improved station environment leading to a smoother travel experience for customers and a gateway to Leyton town centre

Funding the work

This work is funded by central Government, the London Borough of Waltham Forest and TfL.
