Season ticket on Oyster no longer needed

Before you apply

We charge a £5 admin fee and your Oyster card will be cancelled when we process your refund.

You can apply anytime for a refund on your season ticket if it hasn't expired. We'll calculate your refund from the day you contact us and when we confirm your details.

When you apply, you need to give us your Oyster card number.

Your refund is based on the price of your season ticket, minus the cost of the equivalent Travelcard or Bus & Tram Pass you would have needed for the period of time you travelled. The difference between these two costs is what you'll be refunded. You won't be refunded on a pro-rata basis.

You won't get a refund if there is less than:

  • 6 weeks remaining on an Annual ticket
  • 7 days remaining on a Monthly ticket
  • 3 days remaining on a 7 Day ticket

You can't pause your season ticket.

If you bought your ticket from Trainline, CommuterClub or another train company, you must contact them for a refund.

If you bought your ticket using a travel warrant, any refund will be paid to the warrant issuer. If you bought your ticket using a loan, for example from your employer, contact them to discuss your refund. It's likely your refund will be less than the amount you still owe on the loan.

Apply for a refund

You can claim a refund by signing in to your Oyster account and using the self-serve option.
